Republican Senators Need to Hear from Constituents to STOP New Gun Restrictions & New Taxes
It is their responsibility to stand up for us and Take A Walk
Please contact these six Oregon State Senators. Make your message short and to the point, it does not need to be complicated and it does not need to repeat all the facts that are already well known. Simply tell them, “Gun owners supported you. Now it is your turn. Walkout.”
They have to walk out NOW before the Democrats enact new restrictions that would end their ability to walk out of session.

House Bill 2543
The Oregon State House Judiciary Committee will hear House Bill 2543,
House Bill 2543 allows for the indefinite delay of firearm transfers. Current law allows a licensed firearm dealer (FFL) to release a firearm to a purchaser the following business day if they have not received any additional correspondence from the Department of State Police after receiving a “delay” when conducting the initial background check for a firearm transfer. This safeguard prevents the potential shutdown of sales via endless delays and allows law-abiding individuals to take possession of a firearm in a timely manner. HB 2543 removes this safeguard, potentially creating a limitless delay on the exercise of a fundamental right. This legislation is extremely dangerous if someone is trying to buy a firearm for self-defense and bureaucratic hurdles get in the way of their ability to protect themselves and their families.
HB 3005, repeals Oregon’s law that allows only the State Legislature to write most gun laws. It would repeal the law creating state preemption of local firearm regulation and statutes creating exceptions to preemption. HB 3005 is now scheduled for a hearing on April 6th and a work session on April 13th. Both will be in the House Judiciary Committee.

Included in the package of measures to end the walkout:
· Senate Bill 261 would block lawmakers from using political contributions to pay for any fines, legal fees, or loss of salary they incur for unexcused absences.
· Senate Bill 262 would block lawmakers from receiving pay, and institute a $500 fine, for any day that a lawmaker has an unexcused absence from a floor session.
· Senate Joint Resolution 3 would ask voters to amend the state constitution, to ensure that lawmakers who have 10 or more unexcused absences cannot run for reelection.
· Senate Joint Resolution 4 would ask voters to change the Legislature’s quorum rules so that a simple majority, rather than two-thirds of lawmakers, are required to conduct business.
