Reopen Oregon Rally In Coos Bay on the Boardwalk Saturday, May 2, 2020 at HIGH NOON

Reopen Oregon

There will be several rallies this Saturday, May 2, in support of elected officials on all levels starting the process of reopening businesses in the state of Oregon

Oregonians just want to be able to do their jobs and carry on with their lives.

Coronavirus is a very dangerous disease with a high infection rate, which has been traumatizing the country and terrifying people.  Some Americans are not thinking rationally due to the nonstop barrage of overhyped media reports, combined with high unemployment rates, empty shelves, and the overreactions of publicity-seeking politicians.

However, people are beginning to understand that most Americans will face exposure to this virus and a good percentage of those who are exposed will become infected.  Most of those infected will fight off the virus and recover, while others will die.  It is the natural progression of an aggressive infection and the best defense may be to let the disease run its course.

Currently, there are limited medications and treatments to combat the virus and a vaccine could be many years away if it arrives at all, but that does not justify the authorities shutting down the country’s economy and forcing people to hide in their homes.

On the contrary, President Trump should encourage people to chance exposure by requesting the Governors to reopen their prospective state.  Yes, the disease will resurge in places it has been and surge in places where it is going, but it would be better to happen sooner than later.

Exposure creates antibodies that help the body build a natural immunity for resistance to the virus and adversely, the US population will not have those antibodies built-up for November when the virus returns and has grown stronger.  It stated in a report released to Congress in March of 2020 that most people are facing exposure and there would be no containment of the Coronavirus, which is why they are using mitigation practices, which is slow, methodical, and extremely expensive.

Moreover, mitigation is not elimination, it only prolongs the inevitable and it might not work.  The entire process is very detrimental to privacy and individual liberties with the massive expansion of government surveillance and tracking programs using the latest in high tech spying cameras and drones.  The CDC is calling for an army of tracers to checkup on people in their homes to catalog their movements---all in the name of safety.

In Sweden, there has been no government-imposed lockdown, and their citizens can choose to self-quarantine.  On April 21, Sweden’s chief epidemiologist claimed Stockholm could have herd immunity in weeks because Coronavirus cases have plateaued and leveled out. Even the World Health Organization’s top emergencies expert, Dr. Mike Ryan, said Wednesday, April 27, there are “lessons to be learned” from the Scandinavian nation, which has largely relied on citizens to self-regulate.  The Swedes achieved their goal without overloading the hospitals or annihilating their economy.

The effects of a protracted shutdown could devastate the U.S. economy, which could impoverish huge swaths of the country for decades risking the livelihood and lives of generations to come.  Poverty is one of the main causes of death to humans.  In the time it takes to read this sentence, somewhere in the world poverty has contributed to the death of a baby.

In Oregon, Governor Brown has relied on the advice of the same public health professionals whose models from the University of Washington have been consistently inaccurate.  Her administration is going to move too slowly to open up the state, and partly due to politics, which is why WE THE PEOPLE must rally to reopen the state as a way to nudge her in the right direction.

Otherwise, it may never get going again, so show up to the Oregon State Capitol, or a local rally this Saturday, May 2, 2020.

The Governor could continue the shutdown for months, even years, which will be disastrous to the state economy, and in the end, the disease will still have to run its course and all our sacrifices will be for naught.
