Beginning

Oregon's Next Senator 2022 - Darin Harbick (harbickforussenate.com)

Darin Harbick’s work ethic, like a lot of young boys in the 1970’s, was developed along side his Mom in the berry fields of Oregon. At age 8 he was picking blueberries with his Mom and brothers. He has not stopped working since.

Raised on the banks of the McKenzie River, Darin worked various jobs in the community helping widows with yard and garden work. Once a teenager he started working at the local grocery and gasoline store. Thus began his career in the grocery business.

Dealing with Adversity

With his short experience in the grocery business, he and his wife purchased Phil’s Phine Phoods in Rainbow, Oregon selling their home to finance the purchase. After just over two years, they watched their investment burn to the ground. Not to be deterred, they built their new store, Harbick’s Country Store, on the McKenzie River Highway and opened it exactly one year after their original store burned.

Growing Business

They next built Takodas Restaurant next to the grocery store and then purchased the motel across the highway – renaming it Harbick’s Country Inn.  Darin and Kail also purchased a restaurant in Sisters, and the Holiday Farm Resort, just a mile from Takodas.  Darin and Kail in 2018 started the Ark77 Recovery Center in Rainbow, a residential treatment facility.

Realizing a childhood dream

As a young man Darin wanted to drive log truck and work in the woods just like his Dad.  That dream was realized when Darin bought his log and dump truck in 2016 and started Harbick’s Logging and Hauling INC.

Public & Community service

Darin served 14 years on the McKenzie School District Board of Directors, including 4 years as chair of the board.  He served on the McKenzie Chamber of Commerce for over 15 years.  Additionally, Darin served on the Travel Lane County Board for 3 years.  He also drove school bus for the McKenzie School district.
