Public Statement Regarding HB 2572 A
We, the Oregon III%, feel it is very important to address the issue of HB2572, the proposed "paramilitary" law originally passed in the Oregon House and currently up for readings in the Oregon Senate.
The idea that Oregon III% has already been judged as "anti-government," contrary to law, racist, white supremacists, armed for government takeover is absurd. However, mainstream media promulgates and promotes those lies. We have bylaws that we abide by that include none of that. We simply want our government to follow the Constitutions, both U.S. and Oregon. Our legislators and Governor and other elected officeholders in Oregon have all sworn to honor that oath. We intend to hold you to it.
We are defensive, not offensive. We have members of all racial backgrounds. We do not want to "takeover" the government, but we are demanding that our legislators in Oregon follow the Constitution and stop attempting to make laws contrary to that document. Allowing the Attorney General to decipher intent without reasonable proof is simply an invasive fishing expedition. Stopping law-abiding citizens from their rights to assemble, speak freely, and bear arms, defies the Constitution,
Civil disobedience to unconstitutional laws is not a crime. Civil disobedience campaigns are based on a philosophy of non-violence. In fact, the word paramilitary is described in Webster's as "paramilitary covers a wide range of organizations but is usually applied to forces formed by a government." Perhaps like the armed IRS, FBI, ATF, and DOJ?
Yes, we train with firearms. The reasons for that are for self-preservation and gun owner safety. All law-abiding firearms owners should be trained in the safe and effective use of firearms. Nothing stops a criminal with a gun better than a law-abiding citizen trained in the use of firearms for protection. And, yes, there will be more than three of us gathering at a time.
Yes, we have a chain of command. This provides order. It exemplifies self-discipline and respect and can prevent unauthorized actions.
Yes, we also provide private security in our communities, if asked. There has never been an incident where Oregon III% has discharged a firearm or shot anyone. We are trained, remember. We are not about promoting violence. We protect people and actually assist the police. Police personnel are not responsible for defending the populace. In fact, laws made by unreasonable legislators have limited what the police are allowed to do. We attempt to fill in that gap as eyes and ears assisting our local authorities when we can. We have a lower number of officers than ever because many cities, counties, and states have tied their hands.
Oregon III% does many good deeds to assist our community members. We provide aid to veterans, elderly people, and burned-out homeowners. We feed wildland firefighters, provide denim to ladies making quilts for veterans, hold spaghetti feeds and silent auctions for those with serious medical issues, clean highways, make meals, assist with sandbagging for floods, help our communities with many donations of food, clothing, motel rooms, and monetary assistance, and we have provided security for a dozen churches as they put on their nighttime living nativity at Christmas.
What HB 2572 is attempting to do, and we know that Three Percent was mentioned on the floor of the House when debate was held on this proposed law, is to restrict lawabiding people such as Oregon III% their right to bear arms, to peaceably assemble, and to speak freely, when what Oregon III% essentially does is assist our communities and hold our elected officials accountable, period. We are not going to harm you. However, we will hold your feet to the fire. Stop passing laws that are a detriment to law-abiding citizens. We are weary with the false and inaccurate labels. We are only opposed to those who continue on this insane path of disarming the citizens, censoring our speech, and passing further unconstitutional laws restricting our God-given rights. We will not give one more inch. We will hold all those elected to serve the people accountable.
