Invitation to January 17, 2024 West Coast Offshore Wind Transmission Convening Series Kickoff Meeting RSVP by January 10th
Good afternoon,
The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Grid Deployment Office (GDO) and the U.S. Department of the Interior’s (DOI) Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) are hosting a series of Convening Workshops to inform a set of recommendations for strategically connecting electricity transmission infrastructure to U.S. West Coast offshore wind energy. We respectfully invite you to join the virtual Convening Series kickoff meeting on January 17, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Pacific Time. This kickoff meeting will preview the goals and plan for the upcoming West Coast Offshore Wind Transmission Convening Series and will be open to the public.
We are personally inviting you to this kickoff meeting as you have previously expressed interest in DOE’s offshore wind transmission work. This meeting will provide information about how to engage in the Convening Series, which is designed to foster collaborative conversations and idea-sharing regarding technical considerations for West Coast offshore wind transmission deployment. The result of the Convening Series will be a set of recommendations and actions for addressing offshore wind transmission challenges on the West Coast including California, Oregon, and Washington. DOE and BOEM will publish the recommendations as an addendum to the recent Atlantic Offshore Wind Transmission Action Plan, which includes recommendations for connecting offshore wind transmission on the U.S. Atlantic Coast. Please note that this effort will not result in any official siting decisions or regulatory action, but it may inform recommendations intended to help direct future actions and decisions.
If you are interested in participating, please RSVP by January 10, 2024 by registering here. DOE and BOEM will also offer future in-person and virtual opportunities to inform this work in conjunction with existing West Coast events. Please visit our website for more information. The January kickoff meeting will be recorded and made available on the website approximately two weeks after the event.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact OSWTransmission@hq.doe.gov, and we will respond as quickly as possible.
We look forward to your participation.
Sincerely,
DOE and BOEM Offshore Transmission Team
