PRESS RELEASE

October 9, 2023

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

At 6:30 PM on Thursday, October 12 at the Sawdust Theatre, 120 N. Adams St, Coquille, The Coos County Board of Commissioners will hold a special public Work Session (an official public meeting where policy can be discussed) for the purpose of gathering public comments regarding the offshore wind energy project proposed by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management to be installed off Oregon’s coast. This project, currently in the “Call Area” phase, has supporters as well as detractors. The public comment period ends on 10/16, and the Board of Commissioners is very interested to have the broadest possible base of comments in order to most fully and accurately represent the will of their constituencies, for submission into the record. The Board hopes for a robust attendance and discussion, thus the Sawdust venue, which holds a much larger crowd than is possible in the normally-used Owen Building large conference room.
