Work Session- Closure of County Forest Roads

The Coos County Board of Commissioners has scheduled another work session to discuss the road closures on public forest lands for 6:30 pm this Monday, July 17, 2023, in the Owen Building.
The commissioners are looking for solutions to the illegal dumping, camping, arson, and theft that is happening on those lands.
It was very disappointing that the commissioners only dedicated an hour to the last work session considering there were about 50 people who showed up. It was even more frustrating that they changed the time of the work session from 6:30 pm to 6:00 pm just 24 hours before the meeting.
It may get to a point where there may have to be a citizen initiative started that would open the roads back up to the public. The BOC should have put this issue on the ballot before making this drastic decision because it left most people out of the conversation.
People who cannot make the work session can contact the commissioners directly to let them know there are solutions to this problem other than closing the roads that give people access to their lands.
